Graduation Day!!!

Well, Jack did it! He graduated from kindergarten! While we are certainly proud to say that, it also seems a bit overkill to graduate from kindergarten in a full cap and gown. They sure looked cute though! Jack is moving on to first grade and Ryan to pre-k. Yay!

Great Grandma Peggy's Wonderful Visit

We were all so thrilled to hear that Great Grandma Peggy (my grandmother) wanted to come for a visit. We had such a good time eating, playing and swimming with her while she was here. It was a big trip for her to make by herself and we were very appreciative to be able to share a small piece of our lives in Tucson with her. On a side note...we learned a valuable lesson while she was here...it is important to stay very clear of anyone swinging a golf club - right Papa? Some of us learn the hard way - sooooo glad you didn't end up with a broken jaw!!!

Bees....

Simply stated...this was discovered yesterday afternoon in our neighbors tree. Eeeeek. Thankfully, an alert neighbor called everyone tell warn us. Eventually a bee removal service was contacted, but before they could arrive this swarm had moved on. Still - an amazing image...can you imagine how many bees must have been in that group? Unbelievable!

Favorite Song

So, I'm talking to Jack's kindergarten teacher last Friday and she has this little smirk on her face. She quietly says, "I was asking the kids what their favorite songs were, and most of the kids said, Jonas Brothers or something similar, but Jack said his was Abba" She thought that she must have mis-heard him, so she asked him which song was his favorite and he told her proudly, Dancing Queen. Again, she thought, that's a 70's band, he can't possibly mean the same thing I'm thinking. So she asked him to sing a few lines. Sure enough...he proudly belted out the first few lines of the chorus from the song, Dancing Queen by Abba. So, after we giggled about it, I had to admit that I do own the album (ok, I just dated myself). And when Jack was little, we thought it was so cute, we'd turn on my Abba music and he would dance and sway to the beat. As a matter of fact, it was probably his first exposure to pop music. Oh geesh...I think we need to get some new music for this kid. To have your 6 year old son, tell people his favorite song is Dancing Queen, well...I'm afraid that might get him beat up one day! :-)

Glimpse into the future...ugh....

We had a funny moment at the park the other day and needed to share. Saturday after Jack's soccer game both boys were playing on the school's playground. Jack, our social butterfly, managed to meet a new friend, a little girl. Soon, we noticed Jack and this little girl had moved from the playground to the shade under a tree. It was so cute, but also gave me a slight twinge...is this what it's going to be like in a few years, when he's a teenager?!? Anyway, back to the story... So, being the pestering parents we are, Todd got this idea to have Ryan, Jack's little brother, walk over and tell Jack to break it up - he's getting to cozy with this little girl. Long story short, we watch Ryan walk over to Jack, wander casually by and then circle back around to us. Jack and this little girl, on the other hand hadn't moved from their shady spot under the tree. So, we asked Ryan what he said to Jack and why he wasn't coming over. Ryan's response...and this is hysterical... "I just gave him a wink and a thumbs up!" OMG - we died laughing. How on earth would a 4 year-old think to give his big brother a wink and a thumb's up for talking to a girl?!? Oh geeze, I think I did get a little glimpse into the future!
