Ok, so Jack and I survived our first boy scout camp out! Actually we had a great time. After quickly setting up camp (gotta love these new little tents - go up in like 5 min - not like the good ole' days!)...they organized tug-a-war, marbles and a soccer game. Jack was in HOG HEAVEN! Dinner was quickly followed by a campfire - not a real one, just a couple of copper pot fire pits..but worked just a well. We still got the lovely campfire smell and smoke! :-) After roasting a few marshmallows and eating smores the kids went off to play on the play equipment. Oh, did I forget to mention that our first camp out took place at the local park!?! It was great! Nice grass, no critters, real bathrooms... So, at 10pm, lights were out and we were camping! It was a beautiful night and we both slept pretty well....as a matter of fact, Jack was so worn out by the days activities (and the cotton field next door) that he snored all night! And, amazingly...he slept in until 7! That is unheard of...must be that cool, fresh air! :-)
After a quick breakfast, ultimate frisbee and camp take down, the boys walked the park - picking up trash. It's part of the scout code - to leave "no trace". After a quick 10 min drive home, we unpacked and were settled back in by 9am! Gotta love camping! :-)
Next time we're headed to a "real camp out" on Mt. Lemmon...which should make for some good stories! But for now...our first camp out and Jack's first time sleeping outside...it was a HUGE success!

Camping at a park? Sounds a lot like Relay for Life! After such a solid night's sleep, maybe Jack should camp in the backyard everynight. :)
Yeah--a Winegar camp-out that wasn't a disaster! I'm so glad that you both had tons o'fun!! --Mom/Nana
